Functions

The SD14 has a function button to the top left of the rear LCD screen. Press it repeatedly to scroll through the various functions on the top LCD screen.

This is the image that you will be seeing in the full size links below.
The first press brings up the metering icon. Keep the fuction button pressed and turn the front control wheel to scroll through the three metering patterns. These are 8-segment Evaluative Metering, Center Area Metering and Center Weighted Average Metering.

The shots you have seen so far have all been taken on the 8-segment setting and it appears accurate for most general work although, like any metering system, it can be thrown off the scent quite quickly. That is when the centre area and centre weighted modes come in (or even the exposure compensation which has a range of +/-3 stops)

The 8 segment metering copes well with most normal subjects including this RFC flight crew and pilot with an old Sopwith
Further scrolling through the functions takes you through shooting modes (single or continuous), flash modes (inc red-eye reduction and 3 channel remote with Sigma EF500 super), remote trigger settings and the EXT extended mode that allows an equivalent of 1600 ISO.

Of these two WWII aircraft the metering coped well with this Spitfire against a bright sky....
Note: Yes, I know you all want to know what the high ISO performance is like and I will get to it over the weekend!
